NFL Veteran Frank D. Murphy to Speak at Newnan Carnegie Library's Author Series

The Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation is excited to announce the return of the Edgar B. Hollis Distinguished Author Series in 2024, featuring former NFL player Frank D. Murphy as its first author. Murphy will discuss his book, "The Man Behind the Helmet: A Story of Second Chances," which details his journey from a challenging childhood in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood, through criminal activities and incarceration, to a transformative opportunity provided by NFL coach Tony Dungy. Murphy's life took a positive turn, leading to a successful NFL career and numerous awards. He later founded Mentoring With Purpose Charity, focusing on at-risk youth and athletes, and developed a digital life skills curriculum. Murphy, now a national motivational speaker, life coach, and mentor, has been influential in various community centers and correctional facilities, fostering character development and mentorship. Whataburger's Expansion Continues with a New Addition in Fischer Marketplace

Fischer Marketplace, a vibrant culinary hub in east Coweta, is welcoming a new addition to its already diverse array of dining options. The proposed establishment of a Whataburger restaurant in the area is generating excitement among local food enthusiasts. This popular fast food chain, known for its loyal fan base, is slated to be situated between Gusto/Andy Custard’s development and La Parrilla.

Whataburger, which opened its first outlet in Coweta County in Newnan back on August 9, is renowned for its wide-ranging menu. Patrons can savor a variety of items including burgers, sandwiches, salads, and fries. Notably, the restaurant also features a breakfast menu available from 11:00 P.M. to 11:00 A.M., which includes taquitos, biscuits, pancakes, and cinnamon rolls, among other items.

In line with its recent expansions in the Atlanta area, Whataburger plans to initially open the drive-thru service, followed by the dining room a few weeks later. This strategy is expected to continue as the chain grows in the region. Most Whataburger locations operate 24/7, offering round-the-clock service to customers.

With its roots in San Antonio, the chain has ambitious plans for Georgia, aiming to launch 50 new Whataburger outlets by 2030. This expansion marks a significant growth trajectory for the chain in the state.

Norman Reedus, widely recognized for his role as Daryl Dixon on AMC's "The Walking Dead," is offering his Georgia home for rent. Situated in the artistic enclave of Serenbe, about 30 miles from Atlanta, this 4,149-square-foot property boasts four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a half bathroom. It's available for a monthly rent of $12,500​​.

Located on Flynn Ridge in Serenbe, the home features an open floor plan, integrating the kitchen, living, and dining areas. Highlights include 14-foot ceilings, grand windows, a large kitchen island, Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer, Wolf gas range and oven, and a cozy sitting room with a gas fireplace. The main floor includes two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom​​.

The upper level of the home reserves its most luxurious amenities. The primary suite offers a lavish experience with dual vanities, a separate soaking tub with a picturesque window, an expansive shower, and a large walk-in closet. Additionally, there's an office space and a laundry area conveniently located on the way to the primary suite​​.

Reedus has also expressed interest in potentially selling the property in the future, should the right buyer emerge.
