WalletHub Recognizes Newnan, GA for its Livability and Charm
Newnan, Georgia, our quaint city known for its unique blend of small-town charm and suburban convenience, has been recognized in WalletHub's latest study as one of the best small cities to live in Georgia. This distinction is based on an evaluation of over 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000, using 45 key indicators of livability. These indicators include factors like housing costs, school system quality, and the number of restaurants per capita. Newnan has ranked in the 32nd Percentile.
Newnan stands out for its balance of affordability and quality of life, making it a desirable location for those seeking a quieter, more connected community without sacrificing essential amenities and services. Many locals feel that our city is growing too quickly and losing much of what makes it special.
With its rank at 32nd in Georgia, Newnan exemplifies the advantages of smaller cities: a closer-knit community, more space, and shorter commutes, while also acknowledging the trade-offs such as limited dining options and shorter business hours. Read more here.
Mike Dugan Enters Race for Georgia's 3rd Congressional District
Mike Dugan, a Republican State Senator from Carrollton, Georgia, has joined the race for the 3rd Congressional District seat. Dugan, a former Army Ranger and construction contractor, filed with the FEC to start his campaign. The seat is open due to incumbent Drew Ferguson's decision not to seek reelection. The district covers areas near the Georgia-Alabama line and south of Atlanta, including Newnan. Dugan's political background includes serving as Senate Majority Leader and his recent resignation from the Senate will trigger a special election for his seat. The Republican field for this seat is crowded with several other candidates, and the primary is on May 21, followed by the general election on November 5. Democrat Rodney Moore is also running.
