On the afternoon of January 19th, a tragic single-vehicle accident occurred on I-85 northbound near mile marker 34. Around 3:30 p.m., a blue Toyota Corolla, driven by 48-year-old Lakiesha Graves of Newnan, veered off the interstate's east edge. The car descended an embankment and collided with several trees head-on. It then rotated counterclockwise, overturned, and came to a halt on its roof, facing west.

Unfortunately, Graves did not survive the accident and was declared deceased at the scene. Authorities have since informed her next of kin. There were no passengers in the vehicle, and the crash did not involve any other cars.

The aftermath of the accident led to the closure of the right northbound lane on I-85, as investigations were conducted for approximately two hours.
