Road Rage Turns Violent on Highway 29: Coordinated Police Effort Leads to Arrest
artist depiction
Last night, a road rage incident escalated dangerously on Hwy 29 North when a driver in a Ford Mustang brake-checked another motorist multiple times before firing two gunshots at him. The incident, which occurred just after 7 PM, prompted an urgent response from both the Coweta Co. Sheriff's Office and the Newnan PD.
The victim, who maintained contact with E911 throughout the ordeal, followed the suspect as he maneuvered through local roads. The pursuit saw the Mustang driver turning off onto Red Bud Trail, doubling back, and eventually heading onto Magnolia Trail. It was here that a Newnan Police Department unit began tailing the suspect, carefully coordinating with other units before making a stop.
The joint effort culminated in the apprehension of the Mustang driver at a roundabout on Highway 29 N. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to Coweta County Jail. While the precise reasons for the arrest remain unconfirmed pending booking details, the alarming incident underscores a rising concern over gun-related road rage incidents.
Authorities commend the quick thinking and cooperation of the victim in providing vital information to dispatch, as well as the swift and effective response by local law enforcement in handling this intense situation. The community is reminded to exercise caution on the roads, given the increasing frequency of such dangerous encounters.

Newnan Airbnb Host Arrested for Defrauding Guests with False Claims
Katherine Jensen, a 38-year-old woman from Newnan, has been apprehended by the local police for allegedly defrauding her Airbnb customers. The Newnan Police Department initiated an investigation following a complaint from a customer who was accused by Jensen of stealing stereo equipment after his stay at her Melson Street bungalow last summer. The host bolstered her claim with a police report filed with Airbnb, which authorities later determined to be fabricated.
Jensen's deceptive tactics didn't stop there. Another incident involved a Florida couple who were unexpectedly accused of theft after their stay. Further investigation revealed an additional case where a guest was falsely charged $393 for furniture moving and deep cleaning, backed by another falsified invoice from a cleaning company.
Charged with criminal attempt at theft by deception and forgery in the first degree, Jensen has been arrested twice. Police are now seeking information from other guests who might have stayed at Jensen's property, which she sold last fall. With ongoing investigations, additional charges against Jensen are a possibility.
